European Week for Waste Reduction and New Opportunities for the LIFE NEW4CARTRIDGES Project

Updated: Apr 10

Eco Store, a leading advocate for sustainable practices, recently participated in a networking event in Rome on March 21st, coinciding with the award celebration of The European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR). This annual campaign, which aims to raise awareness about waste prevention in Europe, brings together various stakeholders, including citizens, schools, businesses, NGOs, and associations.

Originating in 2009 as an EU-funded LIFE+ project, the EWWR has become the largest campaign of its kind, uniting public authorities across Europe in their commitment to waste prevention. At the event, Eco Store had the opportunity to engage with numerous stakeholders, including associations such as CONAI and Legambiente, public institutions like Parco Naturale dell’Aveto and Scuola Primaria Ecoschool, and other companies championing sustainable projects.

The Italian event was organized by AICA (Associazione Internazionale Comunicazione Ambientale), under the supervision of Debora Paolini and Ivana Ristovska. During the event, Federica Gerardi of Eco Store seized the opportunity to connect with Debora and Ivana to discuss the LIFE NEW4CARTRIDGE project. This interaction proved to be a fruitful exchange of information and suggestions, useful for framing the project's communication towards external stakeholders in a way that is appealing to new stakeholders, particularly institutions and associations.

This event and the meeting with Debora and Ivana underscore the importance of collective action in addressing environmental challenges. They serve as a testament to the significance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in driving meaningful change towards a more sustainable future.

One of Eco Store's goals is to elevate the LIFE NEW4CARTRIDGES project to a higher level by engaging additional associations and policymakers. The objective is to promote greater awareness of waste reduction through reuse and circular paradigms. In this project, AICA appears to be the ideal partner, so we can expect developments in the near future.
